How Research AI works

Research AI uses semantic search to understand the intent behind your query, not just keywords. The system identifies the 10 most relevant sources from Statista's database—including statistics, infographics, topic pages, and Market Insights—and feeds this information to the AI.

You receive a comprehensive response with inline citations, making it easy to verify facts and explore sources deeper. This approach, called Retrieval-Augmented Generation, ensures all answers are grounded exclusively in Statista's verified data, never the open web.

Research AI does not currently include data from Consumer Insights. Please use the dedicated Consumer Insights tool directly for that specific data.

How to access Research AI

• Access the tool: Click "Research AI" in the top navigation menu to reach the main page.​
• Ask your question: Enter your query in natural language—write as you would speak.​
• Review your results: Read the summary response, explore the cited sources in the sidebar, and use the "Extended Query Recommendations" for related questions.​
• Explore further: Check the "Curated Content Recommendations" section for related reports and deeper analysis.​

Research AI and Statista's keyword search serve different purposes. Research AI excels at answering specific questions with context-aware responses, perfect when you need quick insights or aren't sure where to start.

Traditional keyword search within the Statista platfofm provides broader results and helps you explore topics from multiple angles. This is useful for discovering perspectives you hadn't initially considered.

Both tools complement each other and we recommend using whichever best fits your research needs in the moment.
